On 23rd April over 40,000 runners took part in the 2017 London Marathon, taking to the streets of the capital for the 26.2 mile distance. Smart Fitness member Rich Houghton was part of the record number of runners with one particular goal; to complete the distance in under 3 hours.
Rich has been training with us here at Smart Fitness to improve his mobility, and to increase his levels of strength and power production. Increasing his strength made Rich more robust and not only able to run harder for longer during training sessions, but also he was able to recover quicker from those sessions. All of the hard work Rich put in both in the gym and on the road definitely paid off as he completed the race in 2 hours 55 minutes and 32 seconds, coming 1298 out of 40,382 runners. A fantastic achievement!
Well done Rich, we’re all super proud of you!
