Teleri Hamilton, originally from North Wales, began her coaching experience whilst studying at Northumbria University over ten years ago, and followed the educational path to increase her knowledge to support the practicalities of working as a Strength and Conditioning Coach.
She has been coaching since 2005 and has successfully transferred her detailed knowledge of training athletes into the public arena for rapid results.
Teleri has been working as an accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach for over 6 years. She started at Leeds Met University, working with the university scholarship athletes and teams. She has since worked in youth athletic development in the North East, and supported the following sporting bodies as a consultant S&C coach, Women’s Football Association, England Badminton, British Fencing, Women’s RFU and the Lawn Tennis Association.
As a keen sportswoman, Teleri continues to play hockey for a local club and enjoys skiing holidays during the winter!

To enable us to deliver this standard of training in a commercial setting we have introduced the (new to the UK) concept of semi-private training. You are coached in a small group setting with 3-4 clients and one coach. You follow your own individual programme, with the small intimate numbers allowing the coach to observe assess and guide everyone. We find this is an extremely positive, highly motivating environment; you will meet new friends from different training backgrounds with every body pulling in the same direction. Before you know it you will be hitting goals you never thought possible and enjoying the pleasure of seeing your new friends hit theirs.

We work in partnership with Newcastle Physiotherapy, one of the best Physiotherapists in the North East. Our combined expertise gives patients and athletes the maximum potential to rehabilitate and get back to full fitness.
Darren Wigg and his team’s philosophy is aimed at improving biomechanics and restoring the optimal length/tension relationships of muscles and joints. Your rehabilitation process can then be continued at SMART FITNESS where we use proven Sport Performance based rehabilitation and traditional strength training techniques, known to us as STRIVE – Strength Training Rehabilitation for Increased Vocational Effectiveness.
Our coaches will communicate and work alongside your physiotherapist to provide you with a tailored programme to transition the injured site into working with the rest of the body and add the endurance and strength conditioning modules as needed. As a result, we have seen that our patients are less frequently reinjured, get better, stay better, and perform better.

At SMART FITNESS we believe in Long Term Athlete Development, with experienced youth coaches we open our services to 10-16 year olds whether they be an aspiring athlete or looking to improve on movement skills and fitness.
Each junior athlete must complete a 6week Potential Athlete Course before they can progress as a SMART FITNESS athlete, and potentially become a scholarship athlete. The courses are offered at various times throughout the year, keep an eye out for our next course date to be unveiled soon…
On completion of your 6-week Potential Athlete Course you will be assessed and given the opportunity to further your training at SMART FITNESS with a specifically designed programme for your needs and goals.
You may also be given the opportunity of becoming a SMART FITNESS Scholarship Athlete. Each year we will be awarding one lucky junior athlete a training scholarship, to support their aspirations of reaching their potential.
